2026 BC Student Leadership Conference at Yale Secondary
More than 400 students and teachers gathered at Yale Secondary for the 2026 BC Student Leadership Conference, welcoming participants from across British Columbia as well as Toronto, Saskatchewan, and Quebec.
Over several days, students connected with peers, heard from inspiring keynote speakers, participated in workshops and completed community service activities. The conference also gave students opportunities to exchange ideas they could bring back to strengthen their own schools and communities.
For Yale Secondary students, hosting the conference was a leadership experience of its own. Students helped plan and run activities, prepare spaces, welcome participants and lead spirit groups throughout the event. Through the process, they developed skills in teamwork, responsibility, communication and event planning.
Students also reflected on how leadership had helped them grow in confidence, become more comfortable speaking to groups and step outside their comfort zones.
